NEW/NICHE BRANDS WISHLIST AND DEEPDIVE II
These brands are new to me, but they might not be for you. I'm still learning about different brands and fragrances.
Notes in this post, for the most part, are not separated into top, heart, or base because most websites did not specify. If they do specify, then each category (top, heart, or base) will be separated by periods; the notes within each category will be separated by commas. If there are any changes to the format, I will state the changes. I might explain my choices, sometimes I simply place an asterisk next to a note I find exciting.
NOMENCLATURE: celebrates design in perfume chemistry by showcasing today’s most inspiring, exclusive molecules—so exclusive that some, known as “captives,” are zealously guarded by fragrance companies. Through a series of sheer and streamlined compositions, Nomenclature explores their complex facets and their potential for protagonism. Demonstrating that these man-made hybrids of poetry and science have a beauty all their own. The beauty of modernity.
I discovered the brand while writing my post for Aedes and other new/niche brands. I like how sciencey the brand is; the bottles look like Erlenmeyer flasks.
- Modern Eclectics:
- Minted: Moroccan mint, mate tea, jasmine petals, papyrus, Atlas cedarwood, violet, lemongrass, bergamot, brown sugar
- The description on the website sounds refreshing and clean. It's also a top seller on Aedes apparently.
- Wood Dew: Australian sandalwood, palo santo, white musks, Asian pear, peony, peach nectar, matcha tea, dewy violet, Turkish rose.
- The description sounds like an enchanting forest with old trees bearing juicy fruits, surrounded by flowers.
- Core Collection:
- SHI_SO: *Shiso, Rhubarb, Mint, Black Currant, Lemon Verbena, Ivy, Anise, Cardamom
BLEU TORCH: designed to serve as a mood enhancer for those remarkable moments with the ones you love. Our mission is love.
There aren't many pictures of the brand or its products. Those that are on the website don't look all that lux, which is ironic because they market their products as luxury perfume.
- Unisex
- Cypress: Citrus, Basil, Mint, Woodsy Notes, Cypress, Earthy Notes
- Midnight Cherry: Black Cherry, Cherry Liqueur, Bitter Almond, Griotte Syrup, Turkish Rose, Jasmine Sambac, Peru Balm, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Cedar
- Lost Cherry?
- Tobacco Silk: Tobacco Leaf, Spicy Notes, Tobacco Blossom, Vanilla, Cacao, Tonka Bean, Dried Fruits, Woody Notes
- I looked through the brand's TikTok to learn more about them, and it seems like they have some Tom Ford dupes. This is reminiscent of Tobacco Vanille. I typically don't like the smell of tobacco.
- White Metallic: Bergamot, Cardamom, Pistachio, Pink Pepper, Ylang-Ylang, Jasmine, Tuberose, Coconut, Tonka Bean, Amber, Benzoin
- There are so many contrasting and unexpected notes. Pistachio with Ylang-Ylang and Coconut?
- Feminine
- Gold Orchid: Citrus, Black Currant, Black Truffle, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Incense, Amber, Vanilla, Vetiver, Dark Chocolate, Balsam
KEROSENE: never heard of John Pegg, the founder and perfume reviewer. I know this brand because it was advertised on Instagram.
The website looks like someone's first attempt at building a website. The fragrances below have notes that stand out to me, and there's a good variety to learn about the house.
- Followed 2022: coffee, caramel, vanilla, cocoa, amber
- R'oud Elements: oud, cedar, sandalwood, amber, vanilla, lavender, iris, orange bitters
- Walk the Sea: sea salt, white florals, cedar, ambergris, musk
- Wood Haven: bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, black pepper, pink peppercorns, juniper leaf, ginger root, vetiver, cedar, guaiac wood
A'DDICT: Emptiness is non-existence but not nothingness. Devoid of everything, the emptiness is worthy. A’ddict tells ‘paradox of emptiness’ through scent. The essence of scent is not about adding but emptying. Stripping away what’s superfluous and when only essentials are left, A’ddict interacts with you through emptiness, paradoxically flourishing the individual signature scent to exude character and personality.
After writing this post, I received MANY advertisements on Instagram. Flight attendants' favorite. Inspired by Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (interesting marketing decision...) And this video of a guy smelling the perfume off two women's wrists. Questionable marketing decisions.
