NEW/NICHE BRANDS WISHLIST AND DEEPDIVE VI

These brands are new to me, but perhaps not to you. I'm still learning about different brands and fragrances.

Notes in this post, for the most part, are separated into top, heart, or base. Each category will be separated by periods; notes within each category will be separated by commas. Sometimes brands list notes without dividing them into top, heart, or base. I might explain my choices or only place an asterisk following what I find exciting.

The ongoing trend with these posts is my affinity for citrus, ylang-ylang, tea, peach, chocolate/cacao, and mint/certain herbs. I am intrigued by Oud because I rarely try it. Keep this in mind when there are no explanations.

I sometimes purchase these samples, depending on availability and my whims. When looking at these compilations during purchasing, I often notice dislike for my selection. Why did I pick that?

TSU LANGE YOR: Yiddish for "To Long Years and Good Years." The entire website has words sporadically in all caps, random plus signs, and extra commas. The brand has personal and home fragrances that acknowledge the Aboriginals of Australia. Troye Sivan is the creative director.

  • TLY 5755: Black Pepper, Sandalwood, Vetiver. Tasmania Mountain Pepper, Shiso, Amyris, Cashmeran. Cedarwood, Buddawood, ISO E Super, Ambroxan, Vanilla, Coumarin.
    • This is the brand's signature scent in collaboration with Craig Andrade. The fragrance features native Australian scents and materials, which are underlined. The description instructs you to re-examine at 2, 20, and 45 minutes post-application.
  • POOL: Cucumber, Lychee, Raspberry, Italian Bergamot. Tomato Leaf, Crushed Coriander, Muguet, Cassis. Ginger, Capsicum, Musk.
    • A quirky composition that screams refreshing. The cucumber conjures cleanliness and freshness, and then there is fruitiness and tartness, layered with leafy, earthy, and savory ingredients (Coriander and Capsicum.) Finally, there's Muguet for some floral musk... This piqued my interest.

TLY offers 3 personal fragrances, but these two stand out the most. There are two sizes, 25 ml and 50 ml, which are $72 and $145 respectively. The 25 ml looks like a bottle of essential oils, which the brand also sells. Diminishing and oversimplifying the product, but it's similar to essential oils in concept and use. The 50 ml bottle cap reminds me of a mushroom.

So far, there's an ongoing trend of celebrating one's country of origin.
