LASER HAIR REMOVAL FIRST SESSION AND IMPRESSIONS

I've wanted to get laser hair removal but wasn't ready for the investment. In college, one of my classmates told me about this fantastic New Year's deal she snagged; she got multiple areas treated for around $1,000. What a bargain! Sadly, that place is out of the way.

While I was looking for places, my mom's friend recommended a place where you can get unlimited (until you are satisfied/hairless, whichever comes first) armpit treatments for $500. It's $600 if you don't know a person. It was cheaper than the other options I was looking at, which didn't have unlimited treatments.

The biggest con about this location is the size, which makes it shady. You don't have the most privacy, but the other Chinese customers aren't concerned about that. Once you enter, you see these grey curtains and the beds for facials. You can see someone getting treated the moment you get in. I would feel uncomfortable in their position because I'm self-conscious and overthink.

There is a room in the back where the laser hair removal machine is, but it's not designated for this treatment. When I went in for my first session, the lady next to me was getting a facial. The facialist working on her asked if I wanted to change into those strapless robes (a towel with some velcro.) Thank goodness for my foresight to wear a strapless dress.

My mind knows that no one will purposely look at me, but it also knows that people get curious. Or am I a pervert?

The technician asked if I shaved, which I did. This leads to my other complaint: they need to educate clients on what to prepare and post-care. Most of their customers wouldn't know. My parents think it's counterintuitive to shave when you're already going in for a hair removal appointment and were shocked when I told them the prep.

The tech then sanitized the area and applied a cooling gel. Once the procedure started, I realized it was a good idea to NOT do a full bikini. The rubberband-like sting isn't the worst part. It's the heat! The machine progressively gets hotter, which makes the end unbearable. The multiple passes were the cherry on top.

The procedure was quick. I was out of the place in less than 30 minutes. I let my mom look at my armpits. She said, "Did they miss some spots?"

I'm writing this a week after treatment. The hair has grown but hasn't started to shed yet. It comes out easily when I pull it, which I find amusing and showed everyone like a cheap party trick.

I will be continuing my armpit treatments at this location. I am debating whether to get a bull bikini elsewhere. Femstache laser also seems enticing.
