ESTÉE LAUDER NUTRITIOUS MELTING SOFT CREME MASK MOISTURIZER REVIEW

I requested a sample for review. Thank you SoPost/ProductSamples.

When I got this, I thought, "What is this? How do I use this?" What an idiot. It didn't click that it was a moisturizer/leave-on mask. (There are some moisturizing masks that you wash off.)

Then I read the card: with peak-performance skincare from new nutritious. New nutritious? What does that even mean? I shouldn't be one to judge writing, but it's so jarringly awkward and confusing. It has a 60s advertisement feel, similar to "vitameatavegamin."

Just reread what's on the card with a Transatlantic man's accent. It's giving FDR Fireside Chat vibes.

Nutritious is a line from Estée Lauder: "Ingeniously calibrated, nutrient-rich formulas, featuring 92%+ naturally derived ingredients." Their new line has a foam cleanser, essence treatment lotion, and a moisturizer/mask. NEW NUTRITIOUS makes sense with context now.

At least capitalize the "n" in nutritious. Using a common adjective to name the line is a terrible idea. Licensing the word so it's associated with your company will be impossible. SEO and sales must be a nightmare.

This is a skin-barrier repair-geared line. Jumping on the skincare bandwagon... a year, or two, late.

The brand claims that their cream will boost your moisturizer with one application, your skin barrier is strengthened with one application, your oiliness is reduced by 52%, and pores like minimized by 41%. It's got pore care, hydration, and glow. Allegedly this non-comedogenic creme is perfect for normal, combo, oily, and acne-prone skin. Lots of bold claims.

The key feature of this product is its Nutri-9 Complex. It includes Sweet Kelp for oiliness and pores, Red Algae Ferment for soothing and redness, and Coconut Water Ferment for hydration and nourishment.

Instead of saying skin-barrier-compromised skin or skin with a weak barrier, it's marketed as "grumpy skin."

It's both infantilizing and old-timey. Estée Lauder feels like an ancient entity clinging to relevancy with its dear life. You have the advanced night repair serum and double wear. You don't need to work anymore!

The cream is unscented and has a slightly heavier gel-cream consistency that rubs in quickly. I used the cream only at night with my iUNIK Galactomyces serum and, occasionally, Inkey List retinol. No crazy actives, just a basic routine.

I can't speak on how well and quickly it repairs skin barriers because mine was not compromised to begin with.

This moisturizer wasn't hydrating enough for my skin. It's better suited for oily skin or skin that isn't dehydrated. Folks with normal-combo skin that leans drier in your non-T-zone areas should skip this. People with drier or more normal skin can still use it; they might need another layer of moisturizer or oil to not feel tightness.

When I woke up, my nose had around the same amount of oil I typically have. After using it for a week, I noticed the pores on and around my nose seemed more refined and less craterous. However, the weather was cold when I tried this product. Your pores look a little smaller when it's cooler.

I have the same amount of redness. Nothing can fix it. It's a natural flush that's either Lupus, Rosacea, or good 'ol embarrassment. This cream isn't going to solve those issues.

It delivers on its claims to a certain degree. It moisturizes and is suited for oily skin types. Its ability to shrink pores is inconclusive; it appears to have, but there are other factors. It can help repair your skin barrier if you wear sunscreen, refrain from harsh actives, use reparative products, and other restorative steps along with using this cream. The product won't fix everything alone.

There are better creams under $40.
