BDK WISHLIST

Sometimes when I watch fragrance-related content, reviewers mention Gris Charnel by BDK, which made me think, "what is BDK? Why do people like this perfume so much?"

BDK is an independent perfume house in Paris. Their fragrances are inspired by "characters, movements, silhouettes and moments."

From what I read on their about page, they care about every aspect of the perfume, as does every other brand.

Because they value perfume quality, they source flawless raw material from Grasse (the perfume capital of the world.) Every aspect of the bottle's design is artisanal. They meticulously compose their transportive fragrances until it's perfect. Academic and artisanal with reverence. They sound like Bach... Will BDK be to frag-heads as Bach is to musicians?

  1. Crème de Cuir: Mandarin, Bergamot, Pineapple. Pink berries, Solar Accord, White suede, Sandalwood. Absolute vanilla, Birch, Musks.
    • This is only here because a different reviewer raved about it. The composition does not excite me. Some say it's mostly pineapple.
  2. Gris Charnel: Fig, Black Tea, Cardamom Essence. Iris Absolute, Bourbon Vetiver. Indian Sandalwood, Tonka Bean Absolute.
  3. Citrus Riviera: Moroccan Neroli Essence, Italian Mandarin Essence, Italian Lemon Essence, Fig Accord. Moroccan Orange Blossom Absolute, Jasmine, Strawberry Neo Jungle Essence, Eucalyptus Essence, Everlasting Flower Absolute. White Musk, Indonesian Patchouli, Haitian Vetiver, Tonka Bean Absolute.
    • A trial would not be complete without a citrus perfume. "Strawberry Neo Jungle Essence" stands out to me.
A rather short list, mainly because I saw a lot of perfumes with rose and/or labdanum.
