ALL THE MEMBERS OF MAMAMOO'S PERFUMES

I like listening to K-Pop and watching what's in my bag videos, so K-Pop stars' what's in my bag videos are like a two-in-one drug for me.

One of the groups I listen to is Mamamoo, a girl group consisting of four members: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein, and Hwasa. Not only do they have pop music, but they also have songs with retro, jazz, R&B, and Latin styles.

I'll be honest, I haven't listened to any of their new music after gogobebe, so I'm not the best fan in terms of supporting their music. One of the reasons I like Mamamoo is their spectacular vocals; their recordings and live performances sound the same. I embedded some of my favorite songs (Starry Night and Wind Flower) for you to enjoy.

They're hilarious on variety shows and love their dynamic with each other. They seem relatable and down-to-earth.

I'm writing this post because I want to know what scents are popular among Korean stars, try some [perhaps] new perfumes, judge the perfumes, and make one convenient list for other K-Pop fans.

I will be linking where each member mentions the fragrances, but a couple listed are educated guesses.

Hwasa:

In Hwasa's Vogue Korea What's in My Bag video, she features Creed Royal Water and describes it as unisex, slightly more masculine leaning, and a cool scent [for women.] She often goes to perfume stores on vacations, so some of her perfumes have memories attached to them.

Creed is a heritage luxury British brand that was founded in 1760. House of Creed was originally a tailor but has not shifted to producing niche fragrances.

The website describes the scent as a vibrant, clean, and understated classic that is a tribute to Britain's young royals. It has notes of citrus, mint, juniper berries, basil, spices, musk, and ambergris.

In the same video, she also mentions that she used to wear Chanel Chance (beige) and Chance Eau Tendre (pink.) Chance has notes of Jasmine, Pink Pepper and Amber Pachouli. Eau Tendre has notes of Jasmine Absolute and Rose Essence.

In this Marie Claire video, she features another personal and memorable scent she got in Paris. Sadly, she doesn't specify what perfume it is because it's from Celine, and the video was sponsored by Louis Vuitton. From the color of the juice, it appears to be Celine Rimbaud, but I'm not 100% sure. I think it's Rimbaud because the perfume looks a little pink in the video. And of the Celine perfumes available on the website, this is the pinkest one, while others look more amber and golden.

Rimbaud has lavender, neroli, orris butter, wheat accord, musk, and vanilla notes. She describes the scent as subtle, and the notes sound incredibly subtle.

Moonbyul:

In this Elle Korea video, Moonbyul mentions Chanel Eau Fraîche, which Hwasa gifted her for her birthday, and Creed Aventus, a brand that Hwasa recommended. Is Hwasa a fellow frag-head?

Chanel Eau Fraîche is Moonbyul's daily scent. It has notes of citron, jasmine, and teak wood.

Creed Aventus is marketed as a men's fragrance, but if Moonbyul says it's unisex, it's unisex. It has notes of bergamot, black currant, apple, pineapple, birch, patchouli, jasmine, ambergris, and oak moss.

On her own Youtube Channel (moonbyul2da), she says MCM's perfume MCM is the crème de la crème of perfumes, everyone asks about it, and she's even repurchased it. (Does it count as a repurchase if she's gifted it first?)

It has notes of raspberry, apricot, peony, violet leaf, jasmine, ambrox, sandalwood, moss, and vanilla.

It seems that Moonbyul likes fruity fragrances because the latter two are predominantly fruit-forward.

Bonus: she uses Byredo Suede hand cream, which has notes of bergamot, aldehydes, lily of the valley, violet, crisp amber, soft musks, and velvet plum.

Wheein:

On Wheein's youtube channel, she reveals that she wears Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede. Sadly, she doesn't expand on why she likes it, nor have I found other videos where she mentions different perfumes, so her section is shorter than other members.

Peony & Blush Suede is "The essence of charm. Peonies in voluptuous bloom, exquisitely fragile. Flirtatious with the juicy bite of red apple and the opulence of jasmine, rose, and gillyflower. Mingling with the sensuality of soft, blush suede. Luxurious and seductive."

Solar:

Last but not least, Solar. Unlike Wheein, I have too many perfumes to mention in this section because Solar did a video showing her full perfume collection. She often describes her perfumes as baby lotion, sweet, sour, and florally. Very interesting choice of adjectives, but it is reminiscent of how poorly I describe fragrance on this blog.

She has several bottles of Jo Malon fragrances: Sakura Cherry Blossom, Nashi Blossom, Orange Bitters, Birch & Black Pepper, Peony & Blush Suede, English Pear & Freesia, and a bunch of travel sizes she didn't show. Of the Jo Malone ones, she uses Peony and English Pear the most because she's repurchased a bottle, and she mentioned she sprays English Pear a lot.

English Pear & Freesia is "The essence of autumn. Luscious and golden." It has a pear top note, a freesia heart, and a patchouli base.

She also likes Diptyque Geranium Odorata. Sadly, the cap on the spray part is missing. She asks what she can do, and if you're ever in this situation, buy travel-size perfume atomizers that allow you to pump from the bottom.

It has notes of geranium, cardamom, and tonka bean. It has a vetiver olfactory accident. If you're not familiar with Diptyque's olfactory accidents, it's like the little unexpected and delightful details in a painting that make it all the more dynamic and exciting to look at.

Lastly, she mentioned Byredo La Tulipe, a unisex fragrance with notes of cyclamen, freesia, rhubarb, tulip, blond woods, and vetiver.
