THE FRAGRANCE INFLUENCERS LIED TO YOU | TRYING 2 PERFUMES THAT "WOMEN MUST HAVE"
DELINA EDP
Litchi, Rhubarb, Bergamot, NutmegTurkish Rose, Peony, Musk, Petalia, VanillaCashmeran, Cedar, Haitian Vetiver, Incense
If you also bought this to try because of the hype and praises, I am sorry. This is awful. If the next scent is also terrible, I will be absolutely devastated. My money... Samples for these two perfumes are more expensive than others on Luckyscent.
For $335, you can get 75ml of the EDP. There is also a 30ml, which costs $175. There is also an "exclusif" version which is $357. I'm reviewing the EDP.
Delina is warm, a bit spicy, floral, and fruity. I get the litchi because it reminds me of those lychee jelly snacks. I am getting the rose. I think I'm also detecting the rhubarb, which I've never tried before. The internet says it's supposed to smell "tart, zingy, fruity, and sharp." It's not a nice tartness or sharpness because it's sour. It's like something became spoiled and musty.
I partly understand the appeal of this fragrance, but I simultaneously don't.
It's a warm, fruity rose scent. Nothing groundbreaking or appealing for me because, as stated time after time, I am not a fan of rose notes. This perfume is better suited for older audiences because it can age you. That's putting it nicely.
It's like going to your grandma's house during Christmas. If this fragrance was a picture, it would be this, but pinker:
Do you really want to smell like a grandma's couch? Not the cool, modern grandma print juxtaposed with latex, like Richard Quinn's runways or other fun fashionistas.
It lasted around 4/5 hours on me. I exercised on the stationary bike to put its strength to the test. This longevity would be fine if it was cheaper, or an eau de cologne or toilette that you reapply throughout the day. I shouldn't be reapplying for an EDP, especially at this price, this early or often.
In conclusion, it doesn't smell that great, is expensive, and has weak longevity. You also have to be very close to a person to smell it, a very intimate sillage. The projection isn't that great either, which I'm glad for because I don't want people associating this perfume with me.
BACCARAT ROUGE EDP
Amberwood, Ambergris
Fir Resin, Cedar
I've smelled this before! My classmate walked in, and I was sniffing the air like a madwoman, too scared to ask her what she was wearing. She had a Bottega bag, and I was dressed like a little boy, so I felt intimidated. It's great that I can finally put a name to what I've been smelling on people this whole time.
I don't get any of the top notes, which is sad because I want to learn what saffron smells like. This is often an issue, perhaps because it's a decant and not a full bottle? I only get the amber/resinous notes and this sea salt-like funk from the ambergris. Although I still don't know what saffron smells like, I am more familiar with ambergris, which I am happy about.
It's a little musky and sensual. If you want to smell like a salty cabin in the woods/wooden cabin near the sea or like salted plums, you might like this perfume.
Not the worst thing I've smelled, definitely better than Delina, but not something I will gravitate towards regularly. Many people wear this perfume (like my cousin's girlfriend,) or something similar. While shopping at Marshall's, I smelled someone wearing this or a dupe. The sillage and projection are excellent. It's nice, and I understand why it's popular.
It also has excellent longevity. I applied this before bed, slept for around 8 hours, and still smelled it faintly on my forearms and sheets the night after. You don't have to worry about longevity or reapplying with this perfume. I think this is a very unisex perfume.
It's a high-quality perfume, and the price is justifiable, especially if you love it. A little goes a long way because of its quality.
I recently made a purchase from Luckyscents again, so be on the lookout for NEW PERFUMES! I bought 17 perfumes (!), some of which were on my wishlist.
While on the topic of Luckyscents: I love that you care enough about my order to wrap the vials in bubble wrap and use the edible rice packing peanuts that dissolve in water (I had a lot of fun spraying water on them), but this did not need to come in a box. Sure, cardboard boxes are easier to recycle than those flat, plastic mailers, but it's a lot of packaging.
I made a new spreadsheet... to keep track of all the Byredo fragrances there are, the ones I've tried, and the ones I want to try (which there aren't many.) There will definitely be more Byredo reviews coming soon.
